Let’s face it, external stressors are significantly impacting all of us. From our interpersonal relationships to world events, our nervous systems are sometimes pushed to the limit. The speed of change in the past several years has been intense and has played a role in our ability to cope. Sleep issues, over or under consumption of food, irritability, fatigue and feelings of hopelessness are just some of the symptoms people may be experiencing as a result. Past trauma can exist as its own stressor and can exacerbate current stress. Coping with stressors sometimes requires bringing out all of the tools in the toolbox to maintain emotional well-being. Talk therapy sometimes needs to be one of those tools. There is great benefit to processing life events and internal thoughts and feelings with someone who is trained professionally and has natural skills as a listener.

Therapy is not a one size fits all treatment. Our past experiences and genetics make each of us unique. I have found that an eclectic approach is necessary to meet clients where they are in their lives and address their specific situations and realities.

All of us have great potential within us to heal and move further to greater levels of emotional health. Talk therapy can be a component to activating our inner strengths and drives to achieve our best selves.
